A Thumb and a Blanket

Probably every mom of a thumb sucker has overheard or had someone tell them that they “would rather have their child use a pacifier because it can be taken away and a thumb can not!” I understand that. Thumb suckers have to decide on their own to quit. As parents it isn’t something that we can’t do FOR them.

But this is my 3rd thumb sucker. And my 3rd to be attached to a special blanket. And as a former thumb sucker myself, I find it super adorable and incredibly wonderful that they can soothe themselves when needed.

And you can bet I have several images like this floating around on my hard drive. I mean, who could not photograph such a darling moment!

I have just one child that sucks his thumb and I love it! I have had one who loved a pacifiers and I much rather a thumb sucker. My son at least takes his thumb out of his mouth to talk, where as my pacy lovers would talk with the pacifier in their mouths. And the best part is, he has soothed himself since he was two weeks old by sucking his thumb. Now that he is four, he doesn’t do it all the time, just when he’s tired.

And, I love all the picture tips I get here!
